Is my home espresso machine’s steam too wet?

I have a Krups Type 964 machine. If I steam a cup and a half of cold chocolate milk for my mocha, by the time it’s hot it’s up to over a cup and 3/4. Is this normal? After putting my espresso in, it doesn’t seem very thick any more. Not like my local Dutch bros. mochas.

All liquids expand when heated and you’re also incorporating air into the milk so that increases the volume. The milk will steam and foam better if it’s very cold and if you add the chocolate after you steam it. And you should keep the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk while steaming.
The Krups 964 doesn’t do a great job of steaming milk. I’m not sure but i think it doesn’t develop enough pressure.
